A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing Karen and Matt’s wedding at the Manor House at Kings Charter. It was the perfect setting for the couple’s garden themed wedding. Every detail was so beautifully done and showed off the bride and groom’s personality… Like the programs that were drawn by one of the bridesmaids and featured the bridal party as super heroes, centerpieces that included pictures of Karen and Matt through their lives, a signature drink that the bride is known for (rosemary lemonade), and so much more. It was one of the most thoughtful weddings I have ever photographed. The family, as a whole, was truly celebrated.
Karen and Matt decided to do a first look for their wedding. It allowed them to have a quiet moment to themselves before the ceremony and kept them from having to spend a lot of time after the ceremony doing formal photographs. We set up in a secluded location within the gardens. Matt waited patiently with his back to the manor house, while Karen’s bridesmaids helped guide her, eyes closed, to garden. We sat them back to back and they stood there holding hands in the moments before they saw each other for the first time! Matt’s reaction to seeing his bride for the first time was priceless and the fact that this moment could be shared privately was very special.
Another one of my favorite moments of the day was when Karen and Matt dedicated a portion of their ceremony to Matt’s daughter from a previous marriage. The couple took vows to be there for her and love her. They also gave her a locket. It was so beautiful and had me tearing up behind my camera. I wish them all the best as they form their new little family!
