It’s been a really great year for Neilson-Hall Photography and the Neilson-Hall family. In April we added our sweet baby girl, Bryce, to our family, I left my teaching job to focus on my family and photography career, and Neilson-Hall Photography has really taken off. I thought that as the year draws to a close that it would be a good time to look back to some of my favorite photographs from 2012… without going overboard.
Between a difficult last few months of pregnancy and my maternity leave I only opened up bookings for about six months of 2012, but in that short amount of time I got quite a bit done. I was privileged to photograph a couple weddings and quite a few portraits.
I didn’t have professional maternity portraits done during my pregnancy with Bryce, but I did want to catch a few images myself that captured special moments. This is by far my favorite photograph from my pregnancy with Bryce… A peak-a-boo game with my son Breckin and my expanding belly:
Boudoir sessions are not something I get to do often, although I would love to do more of them. I was excited to get the chance to photograph my friend Ashley as a gift for her husband. There were so many great images from that portrait session, but this one really stood out. Her eyes are so captivating:
Most kids love getting their hands on a birthday cake, Graham however being the serious little boy that he is, didn’t want to get his hands dirty. This image captures the mood and Grahams personality perfectly:
I love this sweet moment between my friend Lauren and her son Graham:
Amanda and Nathan were such a lovely couple, so it was easy capturing beautiful photographs of them. This was one of my favorites from their June wedding:
I love this sweet moment between Amanda and one of her grandmothers:
A really great moment between the Boyland family. There’s just so much love:
Lovely Lucie and her mommy:
Some of my favorite images are the ones that aren’t posed at all. Sandy’s son, Ward, did not want to participate in her maternity session. Sandy was trying to get him into a more smiley mood and I captured this sweet moment:
This is my favorite moment from Sandy’s maternity session:
This is Dylan and her Grandmother Libby. Dylan is such a gorgeous little girl, and I caught a lot of amazing images of her at her Aunt Emily’s wedding, but this one is just so striking:
There are so many photographs from Emily and Patrick’s October wedding that I truly love, but I was able to narrow it down to just two. The fall setting and decor fit the 70s coloring I choose perfectly:
A lovely couple shot from the Giles’ family session:
Little Brennon has the most amazing eyes!
Finally, here is an image from Cole’s 5th birthday session. He’s one of my favorite models of all time. I have photographed him every six months or so for the past five years:
2012 was a really great year and I have really high hopes for 2013. Here’s hoping it’s full of weddings and portrait sessions!
