Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph my first wedding at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond, Virginia. While this was my first wedding at Lewis Ginter I’m no stranger to the gardens. My family visits every year for the Garden Fest of Lights and Butterflies Live! events, so I am familiar with the grounds and really love this venue.
On June 8th there were two weddings taking place at Lewis Ginter. The ceremony for the wedding that I photographed took place in a small intimate location that I have never seen in all the times that I have been to the gardens. It’s surrounded by trees and bushes, and is hidden from the main path. The reception was held in the beautiful Tea Room. Both of these locations are perfect for an intimate wedding.
If you are looking for a beautiful, natural, outdoor location for your wedding then Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens is the perfect location!
One of the great things about Lewis Ginter is that you need very little decorations as you are surrounded by beauty already.

On June 8th I had the honor of photographing Sandra and Matt’s wedding at Lewis Ginter Bitanical Garden in Richmond, Virginia. They were referred to me by Amanda and Nathan, who’s wedding I photographed June of last year.
The week leading up to the wedding I was watching the weather very closely. There was a tropical storm moving up the east coast and it looked like it might be rolling through Virginia Friday and Saturday. If you are planning on having a wedding in the beauty of Lewis Ginter’s gardens you certainly don’t want to be forced inside. All day Friday into Saturday afternoon it poured… then, as if on cue, a few hours before the ceremony was scheduled to begin the skies cleared! You couldn’t ask for better luck. We ended up having beautiful weather.
The ceremony took place in a little hidden garden surrounded by trees, bushes and flowers. The reception was in the Tea Room. It was a beautiful wedding and I am so glad that I was given the opportunity to be a part of it.
Sandra and Matt – Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day! I wish you all the best!

My family and I visited the Butterfly Exhibit at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden a few weekends ago. We had a wonderful time! I highly recommend everyone visit before the exhibit ends on October 14th. Here are a few pictures that I took during our visit…
